One Foxy Hound
The daily happenings of a Princess Basset Hound.

We love to spend time up north. We love the fresh air, the lake and most of all the peace and quiet. We have a lot of friends and family that spend time in the same area that we go to every year. Most of them bring their dogs along. I would LOVE to be able to bring Roxy with us but I have yet be able to control her massive loud barking fits and I know others that are up there for the peace and quiet would not like that very much. So that is my winter goal! To be able to control her barking enough to be able to to bring her along with us when we open up the place in the spring.

Any tips?????

Does she bark went left alone, or does she bark just to hear herself speak? If it’s just when she’s alone, then that’s an easy fix. Keep her with you!

Woof! Arooo...wish I knew what to tell you.  Have you seen that we’ve released Dogster Answers on Dogster?  You can go there and ask any question, and our knowledgeable members answer it for you!  Come ask your question about Roxy’s barking, and see what they come up with!

She barks at us, as if she is yelling or talking to us.

Thanks, I’ll be sure to check out the Dogster page.

I wish you the best of luck either way!  We’ve got an adorable basset hound who looks a bit like Roxy in the Dogster offices, so I have a soft spot for bassets in my heart!

She’s probably just being a good watch-dog and letting you know that there is something/someone different around. The only thing we can think of when she starts carrying on like she does, is talk to her in a soft voice to try to calm her down and give her something to distract her from barking such as her favorite toy or chewy. Sorry we couldn’t be more helpful.
